Online family therapy in California

Every family has patterns, and sometimes those patterns get stuck. Family therapy helps everyone feel heard, understand one another, and find healthier ways of relating, all from the comfort of home.

When families reach out

  • Arguments and tension at home that keep repeating.
  • A big change, such as divorce, a move, a loss, or a new family member.
  • Blending two families and finding your footing together.
  • Communication between parents and children, or between adult family members, has broken down.
  • Differences between generations or cultures are creating distance.
  • A family member is struggling and everyone wants to support them.

Seeing the whole family system

Jessica works from a family systems perspective, which views each person as part of an interconnected whole. Instead of locating the problem in one person, sessions explore the patterns between family members and help everyone take part in changing them.

She brings cultural sensitivity to every family, including immigrant and multicultural families where traditions, expectations, and languages may differ across generations.

What to expect

Start with a complimentary 15-minute phone consultation. Together we'll talk about who in the family will take part and what you hope will change. Not everyone needs to attend every session.

Sessions are held by video, which can make it easier to bring a busy family together. Evening appointments are available.

Meet your therapists

Ask about availability and fit when you reach out. Jessica leads the practice, and associate therapist Bahar sees clients under the supervision of Jessica Askari, MS, LMFT #120514.

Common questions

Does everyone in the family have to attend?

Not always. We'll decide together who joins which sessions based on your goals and what will be most helpful.

Do you work with blended families?

Yes. Blended family issues are among the concerns we support, and we can help your family find its footing together.

Can my teenager and I do family sessions together?

Yes. Family sessions can include parents and teens, and teens can also meet individually. We'll talk about what fits your family during your consultation.

How much does family therapy cost?

With insurance, you pay your plan's copay. Without it, sessions are $150 to $250, and sliding scale spots are available. Jessica is in-network with several insurance plans, as is Bahar, who is supervised by Jessica Askari, MS, LMFT #120514.
